Transaction Status for Disputed Transactions & Outside Refunds - Stripe
Every company experiences a dispute at some point in their existence, which causes the money to be taken by the processor. I have a client in that situation now. The product was sold and the transaction is through GHL with a Stripe integration. In dispute instances, there are a few things that can happen: 1) Charge Disputed and You Agree to Accept Dispute In this situation, the money (which has already been taken) will not be returned, effectively refunding the customer (and there are additional fees you pay for the dispute being processed at all). 2) Charge Disputed and you counter the dispute and win In this situation, the money has been removed but you submit evidence and if ruled in your favor, the funds are returned to you minus the fee charged for the dispute. 3) Charge disputed and you counter the dispute and lose In this situation, the money was removed, you submit evidence but it is ruled in the purchasers favor so the money is not returned to you and you are still charged the fee. With Stripe's ability to send out data via webhook, which I have it do with other systems, it should be easy to update a transactions status in GHL, to show if it is disputed, to show if it was disputed and lost, and to show if it was disputed and won, and to have the fees associated with the charge/transaction to be reflected in GHL. Additionally, and as a potential workaround, the ability to select "refund" on a transaction and to note it as an "outside" refund, so it doesn't process through Stripe. Sometimes we have to refund back to a different methods because a card has been closed. We can also use this method to put a disputed transaction that has been accepted or we lost the counter as refunded in the system so it doesn't show it as monies in. The dual side to this is it would not only help keep the numbers more accurate in the system, but when a staff member is reviewing a contacts purchases, it would show as refunded or disputed in the status so they can act accordingly. As of now, unless you add a note of your own to the contact, the only way to find out the transaction is disputed is inside of the stripe dashboard.
