Custom Fields for Users similar to contacts

My client staff have their own Id and other reference values. If we can have a way to add on user level we can utilize these values in campaigns and in funnels. I have to use these values based on the assigned user. It is going to be really helpful feature and may a small change like adding a type in the current custom values saying user vs contact.

Having the ability to add a custom field / value at a user level would be great. I have many ideas that this feature would allow me to customize and tailor the contacts experience.
