When you edit an email template subject, update the email subject in the workflow actions.

At the moment, if you edit a subject within the template email, it does not change the subject within the workflow action(s) which would require you to go into each individual workflow action for email and update the subject.

Yes please! It's deceiving that you can update the sender email / sender name / subject in the template settings but that you have to manually unselect the template in each workflow step and then reselect the template for it to populate changes. In a perfect world, this would automatically update when you change it in the settings.
