Ryan Jenkins, yes, that is the meaning.
Take an existing post and apply adspend for increased reach.
The strategy here is publish several posts to see which gets organic results then accelerate that result.

Keith Besherse oh good heavens nobody should be boosting posts. You're just throwing cash at Zuck. Anyone serious about spending money to get visibility should create a campaign and then pull the post into an ad from there.

Ryan Jenkins, I 100% agree with you. I was only answering your question. Note the date of this suggestion. Ad Manager was either not launched or in very early stages. I would much rather encourage people to do Meta Ad management correctly than use boosted posts. On my YouTube I have a “Friends don’t let friends boost random Facebook post, COVID version” video.
