Multiple confirmation emails for each recurring booking

Thrilled to be able to book recurring appointments. However... We have a program that is 12 sessions. When someone books it I get 12 notifications! We do want to be notified that they booked the appointments, but can there be just one for recurring?

I did help Laurie Brown come up with a solution for this.
If I remember correctly:
Custom notification rather than default notification.
A workflow triggered off appointment booked with the first action being proceed in drip mode, quantity 1. Only send confirmation email for the first appointment.
