Feature Request: Holiday-Based Communication Delay for Workflows
Problem:
- Communication windows can currently be restricted by time of day and day of week.
- There is no way to exclude specific calendar dates such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, July 4, etc.
- Service-based businesses using time-based operational workflows (reminders, follow-ups, confirmations) may unintentionally send SMS or email messages on major holidays.
- Avoiding this currently requires manual intervention such as pausing workflows or disabling sending numbers.
- There is no scalable native solution to handle holiday-aware automation.
Proposed Solution:
Add a "Holiday Schedule" feature at the account level with the following capabilities:
- Date picker interface to select one-time or recurring annual holidays.
- Option to define behavior for selected dates:
- Delay outbound workflow actions by X hours or days.
- Skip outbound workflow actions entirely.
- Reschedule outbound workflow actions to the next valid business day.
- Workflow-level toggle:
- "Respect Holiday Schedule" On or Off.
- Preserve execution integrity:
- Only delay communication actions such as SMS, Email, WhatsApp.
- Do not affect internal actions such as tags, pipeline movement, tasks, or updates.
Why This Matters
- Prevents automated messages from being sent on major holidays.
- Preserves operational workflow timing without manual intervention.
- Improves client experience for service-based businesses.
- Eliminates the need for API workarounds or manual toggling.
- Reduces support complexity for agencies managing multiple sub-accounts.
- Adds intelligent scheduling logic expected in mature automation platforms.
This feature would significantly enhance workflow intelligence and professionalism for businesses that rely on structured reminder and operational automation systems.
