Make Email Templates - Work Like Templates!!!

A template is supposed to be the design and feel of the email, not the content.
I need the ability to setup a basic template that determines the font, size alignment, padding, any links or graphics, etc.
Then I can go in and decide the content and any links inside the workflow.
Right now I have to create a new template for every single email we send (or send them without any formatting) and that is maddeningly complex.

I'm going insane with this! 5 days later... this should be the BASICS and it's SOOOOO over complicated!

I think this would form part of a unified design system for typography & fonts as the default within the template too.
Right now although there is padding controls for H1, H1, P etc there is no unified design system to ensure consistency across all the differerent email templates.
This would save massive amount of time, and speed up onboarding so that the brand guidelines can be used to set defaults across the sub-account. ie: Typography, Colours etc...

Font size especially is awful to work with in the current template structure... every block defaults to 14px, and copy-pasting text screws it up mightily. We definitely need standardized settings!

Any feedback on time line on this?

YES!!! I was so confused by what this platform calls a "template" at first. A template is a framework not a set-and-ready-to-use email. Create a true template that can be changed across all automation emails using it within seconds and call what is currently called "templates" something else that makes more sense. ConvertKit does this beautifully.

Basically, Templates should be design ONLY. Content should be dynamic like Custom Values.
When setting up a workflow this is how it should work.
Add email to workflow > Choose Template > Write Email body in the message body field.
In the Email Builder there should be a widget for "Custom Email Text". This widget would be the "Custom Value" and this would make Email templates TRULY a template.
The need to clone and create a different email template just to change the content of the email, defeats the purpose of it being a template.
If I want to send out emails that have the same design, with different content and lets say I need to send a 50 email sequence, I would need to clone it 50 times just to change the body content.
Instead, using a custom email text widget, we can make 1 template, and just updated the text field which would streamline this whole process.

100%. Calling them templates cost us 3 days of frustration.

The system generates over a dozen email notifications just from the Estimates & Invoices (not counting email reviews and more). Although we can edit these, we literally have to create over a dozen custom email templates which is a nightmare!!!
The logical thing to do is to allow us to create a MASTER email template for the account to be used on all these notifications. While the content would change dynamically, the design will remain. See this video explanation https://recordings.xtremewebsites.com/Kou8b1BK
