Email preview - Custom Values populated
complete
D
Dave Smith
Currently I have been waiting 35 minutes for a test email to arrive as the preview options doesn't populate the custom values with the correct value i.e. {{customer_email}} should show as customer@abc.com but it displays as {{customer_email}}This would save a lot of emails being wasted and continually having to wait for it to arrive, which can take an age!

We are glad to mark this completed. We recently came with a feature where you can preview the custom fields with your contact's data without actually sending test emails.
This can be done in the preview screen itself. Please refer our changelog - https://ideas.gohighlevel.com/changelog/introducing-custom-field-preview-in-email-builder
Do let us know your feedback on this!

Sales & Marketing: Hey, looks like you merged an Idea I submitted(below) with this Idea, even though my Idea was about allowing default/fallback values to custom fields if there's no field value. Did THAT make it into this release?

Justin Showers I'd also like to know if this is available. Great idea!

Insert Dummy Data in Token Fields in Compose Email Template, Send
H
Henry Gilliam [Agency]
in the Compose Email Templast, Send Test, if an email template has tokens inserted for custom fields, when you do the test send, insert dummy data into those custom fields. As the program is now, I have to do a test send at this place. Then go find a dummy contact record and test it again there. Time waster.

Location Email custom field

Frances Locsin
Allow us to use the location email custom field even when sending an email template from the Contacts page as this will be more convenient for HL users compared to having to input the from email address every time an email is sent out from the Contacts page.

Proper Case For First Name In Emails
M
Mich Sneddon
Every single CRM out there will automatically fix it where a client enters their name ALL IN CAPS so the first name is Proper Case. Except GHL.
This means it is VERY clear you're using automation if you're send emails to people with their names all upper case or all lower case.
How other CRMs do it is instead of using {first name} the default is {first name fixed} aka the Proper Case first name

Inserting Tigger Links Via Link Option

Wade Kenyon
We used to be able to write an email and add anchor text for links.
Example. "Schedule Our Call" and then click on the link option and from there we could add a trigger link.
That has disappeared. PLEASE BRING THAT BACK!!!! 😁

Replace No Name with Option
B
Bill Tenny-Brittian
Currently, if a contact has no first name, and if your automated email is using {{contact.first_name}}, then the name section is blank. It would be great if we had an option to choose a "placeholder" variable so that instead of our emails saying, Hi there , we could choose a default that would deliver Hi there friend, or whatever other placeholder option we chose to use. (And of course, the placeholder would be replaced when the contact's first name was discovered or entered in some other way.)

Missing First Name - Swap

When a contact is missing the first name, we need a way to replace... such as with "there"... so it would read as "Hi there!" instead of "Hi !"
"There" is just an example... there would be other ways to configure this. Lots of other platforms have this feature.

Conditional for blanks names
A
Ashley Durr
When I want to use a contact name whether it be a business name or a person's name there is no way currently for me to add that in an email template depending on what has a value or not. I'd like to be able to have these two options when addressing my client depending on what kind of client they are.
For those who code and know javascript I basically just want
{{contact.FirstName}} || {{contact.businessName}}
It either takes the contact's first name if it exists or the business name
