Dark and light mode adaption for emails in email builder

Most users have read their emails in dark mode. We design them in light mode. When they open our emails (that were built in dark mode), it looks bad. Bright colours turn dark, dark colours turn light, and some colours get switched.

FWIW, actually 30-40% of email opens are in dark mode, so it's still a minority, but an increasing one. Email design best practice is to design in light mode and test in dark mode (and across browsers, clients, etc.)

Yep. Hitting this issue too!!
At the very least we need to be able to see previews of the emails in dark mode.
It's really hard to design for all scenarios when you can't preview them!
