When I hit the back button, I don’t want to go back to the main page and all settings, filters reset. I want to go back to where I was. I
i.e. Contact list filters, site pages, workflows

I just tested this and had the same issue. Whether I use the back button in the browser or the left arrow next to the contact name, it is completely inconsistent. I tested it several times both ways and was brought back to the pipeline once, contact tab once, and main dashboard once... even though my initial navigation was the exact same (clicking into the contact profile from their pipeline opportunity) every time.

Have the same issue when trying to go back after filtering transactions. It always resets the filters. Very frustrating for our Customer Service Reps

This already exists. When you click on a record DO NOT use the back button. Use the left arrow next to the name to return where you came from.

John Demitri: I do that. It still takes be back to the beginning. i.e. If I'm selecting a workflow on the 2nd page, and I go back, it takes be back to the 1st page of workflows. Same in our "sites". We have a Toolbox setup as a Site page under membership product and using the "new york" theme. If I scroll across the top and select a thumbnail, if I got back, it takes me to the very first product and I have to scroll back across the top and select the thumbnail again.
