Character count is more useful than word count since SMS billing is based on characters. We're constantly having to guess if we're going over 160 and getting charged for multiple segments.

As of my test today (March 12 2024), GoHighLevel has a sms character limit of 1600

But one of the best features of Twilio is that it will send "Large" messages (at an extra small charge). I take advantage of this all the time. It's a per message option - would be nice to have that option exposed right next to the messaging compose panel.

I notice this already exists in the bottom of the editor- It displays a character count and "powered by Tiny". I believe you want to keep SMS messages to 160 characters, and be mindful that using merge fields can add some unpredictability to your message length
