At this time, you cannot search custom fields in the contacts section. This is very helpful if you create an alt phone field.

Oh no I just built a whole data structure with custom fields and had no idea you couldn't search by them! I only learned by coming across this request. Absolutely need to be able to search by all Fields!

That's a very important feature for large businesses that have a large number of clients. One way to maintain control is through a naming convention (EK-00001), allowing clients to be searched using this naming convention for organizing reports, quotes, budgets, and conversations.
Being able to search through Custom Fields would be a great help for businesses. Searching by email or phone is good, but enabling that option would help us streamline processes.

I'd love to be able to see everywhere custom fields have been used (within the custom field info)

You should be able to search by any field within a contact. Period

This is a pretty big customer need, as custom field and values get more powerful, we have smart lists setup where clients need to be able to filter through the custom fields on the contacts dashboard

For me, I would like to be able to filter through the Custom Fields by typing in the name of the field.
For example, if I have a field called "Rhino - Registration - Signature" in Custom Fields, that list is virtualized and the values don't show up on the DOM as they're lazy-loaded. If I search the document for "Rhino - Registration - Signature", nothing shows up unless I scroll all the way down the page, load in the entire list, and then I can search. If I could just search at the top of the page near where it says "Hide Empty Fields", that would save me a lot of time.

Is there a timeline on this feature?
Searching for a contact by a value in a custom field is very important.
UseCase:
Let's say you are running a marketing campaign with mailers. You import a CSV File of contacts in advance. The piece of mail that the lead/customer receives has an identifier on the paper they received in the mail. The lead calls in to inquire about the mail promotion they received. You ask the lead "What is the "Lead ID" on the top right of the paper?" When the lead reads back the number on their piece of mail, you can search by it and find them in your contacts.
For example: "Lead ID" is the custom field. The value in the custom field is 1001. It would be very nice if you can just type 1001 in the contacts tab Quick Search bar, and the lead that has the value "1001" populates.

In GoHighLevel, custom fields allow users to create and store unique data points for contacts, allowing for more personalized and targeted communication and search functionality.

This is a HUGE disservice to the platform at the moment. Quick Search should be able to search within any of the fields/custom fields. Using filters for a basic search when looking only for a specific contact is cumbersome at best.
An ideal scenario would be to allow us to set default fields for the quick search to search within. However, for the sake of simplicity, any fields should be able to be quickly searched.
Use Case Example: Day Care
A day care needs to be able to track the parents/guardians of a child that they care for. You would not put the child as the contact name for a wide variety of reasons (divorced parents, multiple guardians, the need to send communication to multiple contacts, etc.). Therefore, the easiest method is to create a field for Child's Name. However, when you do, you need to be able to easily and quickly search for the Child's name in both desktop and mobile to find whom the contacts are to communicate quickly and easily.
