New Feature: Assign Default Phone Number to Contact

Right now, "default phone number" is set at the account level in the Phone Number settings. What this means is that the sub-account has a single default phone number.
This is fine as a fallback setting. But we need the ability to choose a default phone number on the contact level.
For instance, if I have a California phone number, I want to be able to assign that phone number to all my California contacts as the default when sending those contacts SMS or making calls. And then maybe I also have a New York phone number as well, and I want that number as the default for SMS and calls for New York contacts. Etc.
With this feature, we can purchase and have many phone numbers that are local to different service areas, and then assign these numbers as the default for specific contacts in those areas.

Yes! Super important for those of us working across different countries as well - set the default based on the contact's country field

Agreed. I need this feature for my real estate business.

This is a critical feature for us as well. We have many different phone numbers that new leads might contact us on so having a default phone number per-contact that can be set through an automation (to the number they called us on) when a new contact is created is needed. Right now, we have to manually select the number the contact called on when sending a text or making an outbound call to them which is cumbersome and error-prone.
Having an option for contacts to have a "sticky" number would also solve this for us (so whatever number they called from initially would stick as the number used for outbound calls and texts to that contact).

Yes, much needed! In Europe, numbers usually have to match the country—Germany for Germany, UK for UK, and so on.

Yes, this is very important to have. I'm surprised that there isn't a setting that allows "sticky phone numbers" at the very least.
We should be able to set default numbers at the contact level both manually and through automation, and there should be an account level and number pool setting to enable setting the default number in a conversation to the number that was originally contacted.
