This would be amazing to convert contact source type to drop down. Yes we can create a custom field but it mess up with the dashboard reporting.

We really need this. My client who uses the system with a team of 7 users all day err day has issues with people typing misspellings and alternate spellings of opportunity/contact sources which is making reporting impossible. ADMIN SHOULD BE ABLE TO CONTROL THIS FIELD by adding dropdowns to select from a limited list this should not be AN OPEN TEXT FIELD.

yes. please. Currently we use tags to standardize it instead of the source feature. This isn't ideal.

Guys, this is pretty easy to do. If you're doing a lead capture form, create a custom field with the Dropdown (Single) option and call it whatever you want. We called it "How did you hear about us?"

Then in your workflow place that form as your trigger, and in your Create/Update opportunity step, use that custom field as your Opportunity Source.

I don't think it makes sense for them to change the default because this is how you can tell if this comes in via Facebook ad, funnel, etc. It's not just for organic leads and creating your own is likely the better option for those.
