It would be nice to have the ability to have multiple assigned users to a contact. There might be a salesperson or producer for the contact and also a CSR or service person associated with them as well.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. We released a feature some time back which allows you to add followers to a contact
Followers for a contact have all the functionalities of an owner
Hope this solves the use case.

Pallavi Kothari honestly the followers terminology around this is pretty confusing to most sales people. If they share responsibility for a lead they are not "following" the lead. They may be working as teams. So ideally this feature allow assignment groups to acknowledge sales departments and sales teams.

This is already active in a lot of places and we plan to bring this feature in more areas

That does make sense Jacob - the idea is to have one primary owner for the contact/opportunity and then have other people being able to track and see what is up with that particular lead
We also plan to bring in further functionalities in the future like assigning a lead or a contact to a group which would be able to solve for the case you are mentioning.
