This is a must! I understand it's to build trust and connection within the communities, but let us encourage members to add a photo (as facilitators of the communities) rather than requiring it. And I also like Tiyana's note of providing a gallery of icons or avatars... make it optional AND provide icons/avatars they can choose from.
