Make some channels premium/paid for

If I have a group of 50 people, and one channel is for the 10 people who have VIP access to information, I would like to do that by adding a channel called "#VIP" so that channel becomes locked to everyone else except the VIPs, instead of making two separate groups.

Yes. The current private channels are important and valuable. They are hidden only the members can see them. They are for interaction between specific people (admins running the group). But there needs to be an intermediate level, locked channels which require premium access.

This will make it so much easier for an upsell into a paid channel acting as a tier 2 of my membership, rather than having to create a whole new group.

These would greatly reduce friction of an ascension pathway within a community. Ask members to join a different, paid community is a significant blocker.

This is a FANTASTIC feature! I much prefer the option of having PAID channels instead of paid communities. Why? Because then you have your paid members interacting with your free members in a general channel and free channels. This will create social proof of the paid products, create FOMO to upsell much easier, allow them to ask and see what it is all about, and so many more benefits. Also, if your paid channel only have 5 people, there is still a sense of community as they can interact with the larger group of people.
This would be similar to Slack where you have channels within the group that you must be invited to join.
