Allow incoming calls to be tracked by person not by user of contacts

This is super important to be able to track all answers by a certain person. Currently, it's allowing me to track through assigned user > but the assigned user (ownership) of a contact can change in the future from one person to another, or multiple users can be calling or answering for a contact assigned to one.
We can't have an independent phone number owned by each team member.
I mean, for example, if sales has 5 members and operations has 5 members as well, we can't go on and have 10 phone lines to be assigned to each of the 10, just to be able to track their incoming calls. That makes no sense.
So please make a way to track the calls answered by a person, not by an assigned user
Or have a way to track incoming through the IVR - extension line.
