Making the workflows builder a free canvas would greatly benefit visual builders, aka. Most of no-code tool users, tools like GHL.
Enabling nodes to be placed anywhere on the canvas, similar to sticky notes, and maintaining that position when saved would significantly improve usability.
Additionally, allowing users to connect and disconnect lines between nodes, similar to the n8n/make/Gumloop... approach (particularly the n8n canvas), would enhance the experience further.
I often add multiple triggers under the same process but want each trigger to have a specific set of actions.
Example:
Calendar status triggers (New, Confirmed, Showed, No-Show...)
I'd have each status as a trigger, then add an 'If/Else' node and filter based on "trigger = ...", creating a branch for each trigger status.
A canvas similar to n8n would allow users to have multiple triggers and link each trigger to specific actions without needing to run everything linearly through a filter. This would also be visually better for builders, which is the crucial part.
Furthermore, having workflows flow left-to-right makes more sense than top-to-bottom. This makes better use of screen space since vertical format computers are rare and most people use landscape screens, greatly improving the user experience.
