Set wait step to a specific day
J

It would be awesome to set a wait step in the workflows to a specific day of the week so we can set a recurring workflow that will run on that day. Also to be able to set it for the 2nd, 3rd. 4th day of the week etc.

For example for a music release or book release haveing a specific step that too place on a certain day and time could be useful

You can currently select the "Current day of the month", "Current Month" and "Current year" in the advanced window in the wait action. Can you please share which use case is not being fulfilled using the advanced window.

Prasoon Dadhich A lot of events will happen on the first monday or the 5th tuesday. This is inherent as custom on most calendars and In this case reminders that are not calendars. Example event is always the 4th Tuesday send reminder email 5 days before, 1 day before, 1 hour before.
The only way to do this now is to find the actual date and change it every month as soon as the other one is done.

Prasoon Dadhich I find that, we have to use multiple steps to get it dialed in - and for example, I would have to choose "Wait til Current Month" then add an additional wait step for "Wait til Current Day of Month" (or use Event Date Action, with a wait step of wait til XX) ... still 2 steps vs Meanwhile in things like AC I can say "Wait until on/before/after XX/XX/XXXX" and the contact waits on this 1 step until it is time.

Prasoon Dadhich I agree with Brook below. I have many clients who have meetings set up for example the 2nd and 4th tuesday of the month. We also cannot set up a "wait 2 weeks" reminder, because what if the month has 5 tuesdays. then the following month is not on schedule and has to be fixed. and in this case it's not appointment-based either. It's a recurring call that all members of a group can join, where the business owner just wants to send reminders it's happening.

Prasoon Dadhich Some of my clients send a weekly or bi-weekly evergreen nurture email that needs to go out on the 1st Tuesday of the month, the 2nd Tuesday of the month, the 3rd Tuesday of the month, the 4th Tuesday of the month, and if there's one, the 5th Tuesday of the month.
None of the default options make this easy. I had to build a monstrosity of a workflow based on date ranges and looping and more.
Keap makes it simple. They have a delay timer that lets you choose the day of the week, then options of 1st week of the month, 2nd week, 3rd week, 4th week, 5th week, any week.

Prasoon Dadhich As others said we need to be able to set the wait step not to a DATE but the 4th Tuesday of every month as an example or 1st Friday of every month.
But also to set to a specific date that will occur every month like the 15th of every month. Hope this helps. Im glad you guys are looking into this.

I agree with the others. Every other platform we have used have offered things like 1st Tuesday or 2nd Thursday, etc.
As well, being able to combine month and day as combined options makes it better. One of the BIGGEST flaws I see in the system is that you cannot set something to go out on March 15th specifically. It's either/or and we have to stack to make that happen.
However, this comes with an inherent flaw that requires a LOAD of workflow additions to overcome. If I want something to go out on March 15th, there should be the ability to tell the wait to be the 15th of March.
Currently, we have to add Wait until March, then add Wait until 15. But, if someone comes into the system on March 16, then the workflow proceeds on April 15 since that was the next 15th. In order to get around this, we are having to add multiple conditional logics to check and then multiple Go To in order to put people where they are supposed to be.
If the option were to be a specific day of a specific month, then it would simply skip those people or hold them until the following March 15.
What we need is stacking these filters to make them much more accurate.
For example:
1st Friday in April
March 15th
2nd Monday of every other month

Prasoon Dadhich Yes - what they said - day, not date. Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the insights. Based on your comments there are 2 features that are not available in the wait actions
- Cant set wait for a specific day (2nd Monday or 4th Friday)
- Not able to select 2 options i.e. Current Month is March and Date is 15th

Prasoon Dadhich Any updates on this or workaround to set for example reminders for the 1st Tuesday of each month?
P
Prasoon Dadhich
Crystal Whisler No update as of now but we will be picking this up. We are planning to revamp our wait step to make it more functional and user friendly. Will pick these points with this release

Agree, they should just have the same wait options as every other email automation sender has. List specific month, day, hour, minutes or day of week, year, etc. I can't send out a repeating reminder for an event that happens weekly since an event date/time must be set and it is a once and done kind of thing. I want to create reminder to a group meeting that happens weekly and I want to send one on Sunday Tuesday and Wed (day of) at specific times of day.

Also, wait 1 month so we can calculate next payment date automatically for subscriptions/cancellations etc

Is there any movement on this idea? I am looking to be able to have "current day of the month" added to the event start date. Like The "1st thursday". I can do day of the week but that still makes me change the dates every month.

YES! This is an absolute need. In creating a challenge snapshot and this would make it SO much easier to just have a “wait until Saturday at 9am” step
B
Brook Borup
Sean Faber just in case you want to check out the Event start date module in workflows. You can set the event start date to Sat at 9 then the wait timer to be exact time. Then you send what you need to send and add another event start date. Hope this helps.

YES we need to have more control over the wait step in workflows. I need to send opt in confirmation immediately unless it's after 5pm on a Friday or any time on a Saturday. Any suggestions on how to do this, until feature is developed?

It would be wonderful if the wait step in automations to have additional filters on it so it could wait to a specific date of the year. Perhaps adding a calendar would be best.

Add More Options to Wait Timer

We need more options on the wait timer in automations. The ability to wait until certain times is important.
For example, wait until 3rd Thursday in August. This would make it much easier to time things like Labor Day which is always on the first Monday in September in the US. This is huge for things like recurring flash-sale automations, etc.

WAIT TILL A DATE
M
Med-Wave Agenzia Marketing
Is really needed, for evergreen campaigns like christmas wishes, new year, 4th july ecc, to set wait till date without to have to specify the year!
The year creates a lot of issues for example:
- If I onboard a new customer on 10th of July and automatically subscribe him to a sequence with promotion the wait till 4th july will be skipped and he will recive the text with the promotion!
- I need to adjust the year in every sub-account every time that is a new year
I think thats a really easy and fast adjustment but it is a game changer for evergreen campaigns!
