Regular Communications via WhatsApp

Currently you can only send templated messages to contacts. However I use WhatsApp to communicate with some of my clients normally, just as with SMS and email.
It would be great if we could just send normal messages to our clients through WhatsApp and not be required to use a template.
For example a client just sent me some files for a project. I would like to send a simple message of "Thank you , received" but I cannot do this unless through a template.
Very frustrating to not be able to do normal client communications through this channel.

Assigned User / Follower WhatsApp Notification without template

Let us send an internal notification via WhatsApp to the assigned user or follower via a WhatsApp message instead of a template, with the last reply from the contact, for example: {contact.whatsapp.message.body.reply}
This would be very useful in many scenarios, like a restaurant, so we can send all the order information a Conversation AI agent collects directly to our client's WhatsApp numbers without incurring template charges.

The template charges kill us on stuff like this. We actually moved our client notifications to WhatSnap.ai since it bypasses the whole template restriction thing entirely. Being able to forward conversation details directly would save so much friction.

This is most likely the terms of service by Meta for using WhatsApp. There is a workaround by using a third party app that uses the sms channel instead of WhatsApp. There is a fee for use. I agree, we should be able to send messages. I know that on the Messenger Channel we have 7 days after the last interaction to send a message from the inbox.

Hilton Davidow thank you for the info. and ya even if the window to respond could be increased from one day to seven that would be a big improvement. i literally had a client message me on friday night, didn't see it till monday and have no way to respond unless through a template.
i understand there should be rules around marketing using whatsapp, but some flexibility should be allowed when doing non marketing communications.
