We should be able to set the page and slug on page cloning - not have HL set this for us and then we edit - it messes up and adds a load of numbers to the end. There's also a bug whereby if you click settings and make no change and then click update, it onerously adds a load of numbers to the slug without you realising. For peace of mind please show the slug under the page title at the pages view so we can scan all our pages at a glance to be reassured all the titles and slugs are correct.
