we would like to request default self-referencing canonical links for all pages created in HighLevel.
At the moment, pages do not automatically output a self-canonical unless it is manually configured. In our view, this should be standard behavior.
Why this matters:
  • A self-referencing canonical helps search engines clearly understand the preferred URL of a page, even if there is only one intended version.
  • It reduces ambiguity when URLs can be accessed through slight variations, parameters, tracking links, trailing slash differences, or internal/external linking inconsistencies.
  • It creates a cleaner technical SEO baseline out of the box.
  • It aligns with common SEO best practice, even for individual pages that do not currently appear duplicated.
Suggested implementation:
  • Every page should automatically output a self-referencing canonical by default.
  • If a user sets a custom canonical manually, that custom canonical should override the default self-canonical.
This would make the platform more SEO-safe by default and reduce avoidable technical SEO issues across projects.
