Prior to moving to GHL we hosted a WordPress site and used FunnelKit for our funnels (formerly WooFunnels). FunnelKit allowed us to schedule an end to a funnel step and put in a URL to redirect users once the end date is reached (like the countdown timers do in GHL). This allowed us to essentially schedule sales/discounts. We would have one set of funnel steps that showed the discount price, then when the sale was over the discount sales page/checkout would redirect them to the full priced offer.
This saved so much manual work when we ran sales and allowed us to have discounts without coupons. It was a much better user experience and allowed the sale to function automatically once it was setup.
