Autosave needs to be implemented correctly. Versioning and autosave are two different things, so that needs to be thought about. Autosave also causes a lot of overhead and challenges. Because the development tool is a browser-based tool that has to communicate with a remote server, it's not the same as working within a native local app, so it cannot take advantage of the same resources that local apps can to provide dynamic versioning and autosave.

That being said, if autosave is implemented with the ability to configure the behavior based upon developer preferences, such as allowing it to be disabled, allowing the preferences of the developer to configure how often it saves, how often it creates a new version, etc. then that is a good feature implementation. Otherwise, it causes more problems than it solves and you are better off just remembering that you are working in an internet browser and you need to save your work regularly. This is learned behavior. Your session timeouts determine whether the state of your work is saved, just like when you are logged into a banking site. If you sit for too long, it will be timed-out for security reasons. Browser sessions have to have time limits. It is the reality of the tools.

I can't tell you how many times I've lost changes on a proposal today because THERE IS NO AUTOSAVE.

For the love of the customers, please roll out autosave across this platform or make your document editing tools better.

Aaaaaaaaggggggrrrrrr!!! It's 2024. I've just lost an hours work on a proposal due to no autosaving. Pretty much all CRMs, CMSs and SAAS tools have autosave built in across the board. This needs to happen here asap. Please!
