It would be nice to have a workflow action to have the ability to send custom welcome email to new affiliates, right now its only working on the affiliate campaign default email, you can not use the custom email on workflow because it will not show up the merge fields associated to the affiliate. Also update document action and update payout method action would be nice to have on the workflow builder

Custom email is supported (see step 3 of Affiliate Campaign). However, the automatic email has affiliate id in the referral link. Whereas there is no magic field for the affiliate id in custom email. Even the contact id of the newly registered affiliate is also not available in the custom email template specified in the Affiliate Campaign.
By the way, if the option to send email is turned off in Affiliate Campaign, you can still send a custom email from a workflow associated with the "Added To Campaign" trigger. Contact id of the newly registered affiliate is available there.
But we need affiliate id and also affiliate portal URL with a token that logs the affiliate automatically and asks for password reset.
