I think this needs to be super fast and responsive to make it worthwhile - near realtime, like most
modern messenger apps with visual cues to show that people are typing ideally.

Yes honestly without the ability for team members to add notes between each other, the conversations area cannot replace systems like Intercom and Zendesk.
We need the ability to send private notes between team members related to each email/text/sms/call communication.
We also need the ability to transfer/assign the ticket to a team member, mark it open/closed like with these platforms. When this happens as the admin/team member it would be great to see who has assigned tickets open and toggle between them. Again like Zendesk.

Any updates on Notes being added to the CONVERSATION screen; Most customers that already have a CRM or are considering to change a CRM ask for the ability for the agent to add notes from the conversation page as they want the agent to type when interacting with the consumer, so they don't need to go to contacts, do it, then come back to the conversations screen
